CBD trip

Today the senior school went on a trip into the Christchurch CBD. First we hopped in the bus and went to the museum to meet up in our groups. Then we got the maps and scavenger hunt and went exploring the CBD. We went to the city council building where Zach's dad works. There were stepping stones going up to the building and most people climbed them for fun. We also went to the Square and found out about the first four ships that sailed  into Lyttelton. We also saw the broken cathedral and read about the new things that are coming to the Christchurch Square. We also went into the new cathedral made out of cardboard (one of the coolest parts of the day). We were all tired and hungry when we came back to school.  Thanks for the parents who came!

Wacky Wednesday

Today was Wacky Wednesday mufti day. We are raising money for Child Cancer. Our class sure was wacky! We went down to show our buddies just how wacky we really are.

5 pieces of art in 5 days

This term Miss Falkner thought we could try and complete 5 pieces of art in 5 days. This idea came from an artist who completed 100 pieces of art in 100 days!

Day 1: Warm and cold colours
We each had a circle split into 4 quarters and we had to decorate and design these with patterns or symbols. We had to colour these using warm or cold colours.

Day 2: Crayon rubbings
We had 4 quarters to fill with crayon rubbings. We went around the school finding different textures to create different patterns by rubbing a crayon sideways over the paper. Mrs Ford glued them together. Here is the finished product.

Day 3: Sketching
We were given a picture of a dog's head and part of a car. We then had to finish the rest of the picture in a creative way. Here were some of the finished ones.

Art ignition

This term is our arts focus. Last week Mrs Craig kick started our inquiry with a whole school tapa cloth. We went to the hall with 5 other classes and create a square each. We used Pacifika and Maori symbols to help with our designs. Here are some photos of us creating our school tapa cloth.

We created a class one too. This was a practise for the real one in the hall - just in case we made a mistake!

Football in Schools

Each Tuesday afternoon we are so lucky to have Tim from Mainland Football take us for football skills. We have learnt heaps already and love going over to English Park to learn more. Here are some photos from our first two sessions.

Term 2 Big Day In

Last term we had a big day in. We were allowed to dress in our PJ's and onesies and bring sleeping bags, pillows and bean bags to school. We watched The Smurfs movie and ate popcorn and lollies. It was like a big sleep over in the hall - but just without the lack of sleep!

Crusaders training

Yesterday the Rugby Ready kids and the school rugby (and a very excited Mrs Ford, Ms Archbold and Sharon) were lucky enough to attend a Crusaders training at Rugby Park. There were heaps of other schools there and we had to wait patiently for the Crusaders to finish training so we could get some signatures. Here are some pictures and video footage from their training. Ssh don't show the Hurricanes, they might use it in their preparation for this weekend's game!

I am looking forward to coming back home to my bed.
I hope you guys are having awesome fun back there. See you next week. Here a picture of me next to a Ferrari. This was just one of the fancy cars I saw.
