These are on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  They are designed for you to come along with any questions about the mid year report that went home in the last week of Term 2.

Current Events

From next week (week 3) every Tuesday we will have two children sharing a current event they have chosen from either a newspaper or on the internet.  This week (week 2) I will model to the children what they have to do.  Below are the guidelines to use when collecting information to present your current event.

CURRENT EVENTS

·      Choose a news event that interests you from a recent newspaper or internet article
·      Using the thinking hats, collect information and answer questions to present to the class.
·      Write it on an A4 piece of paper – must include the article, border, colour, neat handwriting

Thinking Hats
Answer the questions that are relevant for your article.
You may think of your own questions to ask the audience about your article.
You don't have to use these questions, they are there to help you.

                FACTS
What are the facts of your article?
Who are the people involved?
Where did it happen?
When did it happen?
What is the article about?

POSITIVES
What are the positive points/ideas/opinions in this article?
Was there a positive outcome?
Did something good happen?

NEGATIVES
What were the negative points/ideas/opinions in this article?
Was there an outcome that wasn’t positive?
What went wrong?
Did someone or something cause something bad to happen?

CREATIVITY
What were the interesting things about your article?
Could you offer a solution to the problem?
How could this have been prevented?
What could people do to help?

EMOTIONS
How does the article make you feel?
What is your opinion about the article?
What are the different points of view?
