Our own AVAILLL movies

Last term, after completing the AVAILLL reading programme (watching DVD's with subtitles), the children were put into groups to create an AVAILLL movie of their own.  The idea behind it was to enable children with reading difficulties or younger children to participate more fully in the programme.  They had to storyboard their production, create any props or backdrops and then act out and film the scenes.

Here is the "KNOCK OUT!" groups effort.

STA GAMES

At the end of last term, to celebrate our term of 'Culture', we had our own STA Games! We began the day with an opening ceremony where the "King" and "Queen" came to visit.  Followed by a welcome by the TTRR classes and some other different cultural performances.

Then the games began! We competed in our house colours in all sorts of weird and wacky events that the teachers came up with from water balloon throwing to egg/potato spoon races to dress up races to relays.

We were even treated to a range of different cultural meals for lunch including: butter chicken, beef or chicken souvlaki and thai noodles. Yum!

Wow! We are so lucky to go to St Albans School.

BP Challenge Week 1

This term the children that don't go to choir are completing BP Challenges. These are technology and science challenges where they have to work together to solve problems.

This week's challenge was called The Long Lift.  The children had to design a mechanism that would lift a GPS device (bottle of water) from the concrete outside our class up to the balcony above. They were only given a roll of cellotape, 3 pages from a newspaper and a plastic bag.

Here are some photos and videos of the challenge.

The girls were very quick at coming up with their design and plan and they worked well together.

After a lot of arguing the boys managed to create a good design.

Runathon

On the last day of Term 3 the senior school held a Runathon. Each student raised money by finding people to sponsor them.  Family and friends could give a donation or sponsor per lap.

The money raised will help bring down the cost of camp this year.

So far Room 23 has raised and AMAZING $920!
